During our time spent in Johannesburg at the very comfortable 5 star Palazzo Hotel, Montecasino, while coordinating a rather large function, my colleague Colin and I planned another days outing in order to use our spare time productively. We whisked ourselves off to Maropeng, the official visitor centre for the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site.

( 3 / 316 )Having been called to Johannesburg to assist with the coordination of a large corporate function, I figured I’d grab some free time and visit Pilanesberg National Park, a growing tourist destination only 2 hours out of Johannesburg. My friend and colleague Colin joined me on my full day’s escapade.

( 3 / 277 )Living in a country that is jam packed with things to do and see, I once again took advantage of my situation. One early afternoon I headed off towards the Swartland wine area in the Western Cape to visit an exclusive country lodge called Bartholomeus Klip . The Swartland wine area starts at Paardeberg near Wellington and heads north all the way to Piketberg with Malmesbury being the main business centre, an area of rolling wheat fields, blossoming vineyards and olive groves. With some 18 different cellars in the area, exciting award-winning wines have emerged over recent years and the area continues to produce top port-style wines.

( 2.9 / 334 )Last weekend, Dorene a friend of mine, and I whisked ourselves off to the winelands to experience some cape hospitality, enjoy some fine wines and take in the breathtaking mountainous views of the area, oh and of course to inspect some accommodation establishments. Our main aim was to keep abreast of what is offered to our clients when they visit the winelands.

( 3 / 352 )Oudtshoorn
My short escape from Cape Town took me to my homeland, the Garden Route. Shortly after an early breakfast, I left Cape Town and headed off towards Oudtshoorn and the Little Karoo. I stopped en route for a quick drink and a snack at a crazy little spot called Ronnies Sex Shop, a popular little restaurant- cum- bar with great character, good food and welcoming atmosphere!
